World Weaver

by quiqueck

With WoVer installed, world creation tasks that other libraries handle one by one are grouped under a single Fabric utility, and the mod names its goal as WorldWeaver, with WoVer as the short form.

What it does

WoVer is a Fabric utility library whose purpose is to simplify common modding tasks, especially those tied to building and changing worlds. Its author describes it as the successor to BCLib and says it is meant to eventually take that library's place. Fabric API is required, and Mod Menu is an optional companion.

The approach follows Minecraft's data-driven world generation, so ResourcePacks and DataPacks are meant to carry more of the work in modding. The author states the aim is a more capable way to create and modify worlds, and that the mod is meant to integrate with vanilla, other mods and world generation data packs. The mod runs on client and server, so both sides need it, and it is released under the MIT License as open source.

WoVer is still in early development. The author warns that the programming interface is unsettled and may change a great deal between versions, and that game breaking bugs may occur and could destroy worlds. Six catalog mods already depend on it, among them BetterEnd, BetterNether, BCLib, Eden Ring Reforked and ReBetterEnd. Fabric files exist for 26.3 and the game versions 1.21 – 26.3.

Who it’s for: The mod suits Fabric modders who want a library for world generation and accept that its API may change. Players who only want stable gameplay content should wait for a more mature release.

Questions

Is WoVer ready for regular use?

The author describes the mod as still in early development and not yet ready for use, with an interface that may change significantly.
