BetterNether adds new biomes, plants, monsters and dungeons to the Nether once it is installed alongside its libraries.
What it does
New biomes, plants and materials arrive in the Nether dimension. Among the additions are new hostile creatures such as the Naga, and dark dungeons that the Nether's creatures have taken over. The author describes tools that give unique improvements for surviving the dimension, along with a large set of blocks for builders and variants of familiar vanilla blocks.
Beyond the content, the mod adds a vertical and volumetric biome system that other mods and datapacks can build on, plus a stock of crafting components, edibles and equipment, some of which can be farmed through plant farms and mob farms. Nether structures include large and rare Nether Cities. Compatibility work with other mods is included, and the mod runs client and server. It needs BCLib, Fabric API and World Weaver, and Just Enough Items (JEI) and Mod Menu are optional. On Fabric, 19 release versions across 1.19 – 26.3 are published under the MIT License, which is open source.
