What it should be
Players who want less friction in farms and early survival can turn to What it should be, a Fabric and Quilt gameplay mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 that bundles several small rule changes.
What it does
The mod makes sugar cane, nether wart and lily pads accept bone meal, and it changes how baby zombies work: the hitbox grows, maximum health drops from 20 to 14, and an easier baby zombie setting is the default. Creeper explosions can be tied to the gamerules that control block destruction, and turtles can return a barnacle after a swim in water, which takes between 15 and 22 minutes. Brushing a turtle yields scute, and honeycomb stops the barnacle drops.
Several options touch the interface. Holding a compass shows the direction the player faces and their coordinates without the F3 screen, and holding a clock reports the in-game time in days. Armor stands now come with arms when placed, shears can make an item frame invisible, and a cauldron can turn a whole stack of concrete powder into concrete blocks. Enchantment costs can be adjusted, and the rename-name-tag cost can be disabled with a gamerule.
The mod is client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is released under the MIT License and is open source. Files are published for Fabric and Quilt on 1.20.1, and Fabric API is required on both loaders. Neoforge and Forge builds are not published at this time.
Key features
Bonemealable crops

Baby zombies get a larger hitbox and lower maximum health, with an easier default setting.
Compass and clock HUD
Holding a compass shows the facing direction and coordinates, and holding a clock shows the in-game day. The compass bar is off by default.
