With Wiretap, a server adds a working microphone and speaker block to Simple Voice Chat for role-playing scenes.
What it does
Wiretap is a server-side addon for Simple Voice Chat on Fabric and Quilt. It adds a microphone block and a speaker block that players can place and use inside the voice chat system. Only the server needs the mod, so players join without installing anything extra. The server must also run Simple Voice Chat, which is required, and the voice chat mod needs its own setup before the addon works.
Wiretap is published for Fabric and Quilt across 17 release versions, 1.20.1 – 26.1.2, with a latest file for 26.1.2 dated 2026-04-12. First published on 2023-07-21 and last updated on 2026-04-12. Microphone and speaker blocks
The mod adds a microphone block that picks up voice near it and a speaker block that plays the audio back through the voice chat system.
Calibrated Skulk Sensor crafting
A Calibrated Skulk Sensor is crafted and then renamed to wiretap on an anvil, which turns it into the item used to obtain the blocks.
Survival level cost
In survival mode the rename on the anvil requires at least one experience level, so the item is not free to get.
Speaker from the microphone
Taking out the microphone block also adds a speaker to the inventory, so both blocks come from one item.
