Corpse

by henkelmax

When a player dies, Corpse places a container with the player's skin and every item from the inventory at the place of death.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.19 – 26.3

What it does

The corpse appears where the player died and carries the player's skin. It holds every item the player had in the inventory at the time of death, and it can hold an unlimited number of items. Right-clicking the corpse opens it, and transferring the items returns each one to its original slot. After one hour the corpse changes into a skeleton; this is only a visual change and does not alter how the corpse works.

Death records are kept as well. The U key opens a list of past deaths for the player, and an operator can view another player's history with /deathhistory. In creative mode the death history screen allows items to be taken out of a corpse, and its Location area shows a teleport command with coordinates and dimension in chat. Corpse is released under All rights reserved and is not open source. It is published for Forge and NeoForge across 1.19 – 26.3. Jade and Just Enough Items are optional dependencies, and the mods Corpse x Curios API Compat, Corpses Begone, Corpse Tweaker and Corpse Retriever are built on it.

Key features

  1. Items kept after death

Every item from the inventory is stored in the corpse, which can be opened at the place of death.

  2. Player skin on the corpse

The corpse is drawn with the skin of the player who died, so it can be told apart from other corpses.

  3. Access control

Settings decide whether only the owner can open the corpse, and whether everyone can open it in the skeleton stage.

  4. Despawn timers

Config values set the time in ticks before an empty corpse and a full corpse despawn, and when a corpse turns into a skeleton.

  5. Death history screen

The U key opens past deaths, and the death history screen can show a teleport command for each death location.
