Corpses Begone

by PineappleHonorBalm

Corpses Begone changes how corpses behave: a corpse can be hit like a minecart, and enough hits discard it while dropping flesh and bones.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT License1.20 – 1.21.1

What it does

Corpse drops are the core of the mod. Hitting a corpse yields flesh and bones, and after several hits the corpse is discarded or destroyed. Villagers drop flesh when killed, and the same rule applies to them. The mod makes corpses feel more like actual corpses rather than a static drop, and it is meant to be associated with other content rather than running on its own.

Flesh is split into several variants: cooked flesh and related items are mere variations on the vanilla Rotten Flesh item, cooked like other meats. A corpse can also be set on fire, and flesh harvested from it is cooked automatically. The mod requires the Corpse mod, which must be installed alongside it on the same loader.

Corpses Begone is published for Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.20, 1.20.1, 1.21 and 1.21.1. It runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it, and it is released under the MIT License, but it is not open source.

Key features

  1. Hittable corpses

A corpse can be struck repeatedly, similar to a minecart, and is discarded or destroyed after several hits.

  2. Flesh and bone drops

Each hit can drop flesh and bones, giving corpses a clear reward in the game.

  3. Cooked flesh variants

Cooked Flesh and related items are variations on the vanilla Rotten Flesh, cooked like other meats.

  4. Villager drops

Villagers drop flesh when killed, and corpses from them follow the same rule as other corpses.
