VideoLib
by Igrium
VideoLib is a Fabric library for Minecraft 1.18.2 that lets other mods play pre-rendered video inside the game.
What it does
The library gives mod authors a clean API for video playback, covering functions that the game engine does not provide on its own, such as GPU mesh caching for simple video. Other mods depend on it instead of building their own playback code. Players do not use it directly.
Playback starts from a VideoHandle, which points to a video file. The file can sit on the local disk, in a videos folder inside a resource pack, or at a location on the internet. A VideoHandleFactory, obtained from the VideoManager, creates these handles, and a mod must get a reference to the VideoManager before it can use the library. Only the video manager creates VideoPlayer instances, and each player is registered under a unique ID because of the performance cost of video playback.
A VideoPlayer's getTexture function returns a Minecraft texture identifier, which an entity renderer or any other code can draw. The texture is updated automatically with each video frame, like any other texture. The library is published as Fabric only, with a single release, 0.1.0, for 1.18.2, and the code is open source under the MIT License. Ports to other versions are not provided, and the author invites others to make them through pull requests.
Key features
Video manager
The VideoManager creates VideoPlayer instances and is the entry point for every mod that uses the library.
Video handles
A handle references a video file on disk, in a resource pack or online, and is used to tell a player what to play.
Frame-updated textures
Each player exposes a non-atlas texture that updates with every video frame and works like a standard Minecraft texture.
Pre-rendered playback
The library plays pre-rendered video, so the video content is produced before it reaches the game.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
How it compares
Nusic is a Fabric client-side mod for 1.21.11 under the MIT License, so it targets a much later version than VideoLib's single 1.18.2 release. Video Player is the wider option, running on Fabric and Forge for 1.12.2 – 1.20.6 as client and server, but it is released under All rights reserved and is not open source. Collins Fabric is a Fabric client-side mod for 1.21.7 – 26.1.2 under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.

What the author says
This library is for Minecraft 1.18.2. Ports for other versions will come in time. If you wish to port it yourself, pull requests are welcome! Ever since its inception, Minecraft's engine has been... interesting, to say the least. It seems to lack many standard features such as GPU mesh caching and, in this case…
