CraftUI

by Igrium

CraftUI is a Fabric library that embeds Dear ImGui into Minecraft so that other mods can build in-game editors and tool windows.

FabricClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.21.4 – 26.3

What it does

CraftUI wraps Dear ImGui, a immediate-mode interface library, in a Minecraft-specific layer that handles mounting and rendering the native ImGui code. Because the wrapper is shared, mods built on it can coexist with one another, which the author describes as a fix for the instability that usually follows from several ImGui-based mods loaded together. On top of the core binding, CraftUI also supplies a collection of additional systems aimed at Minecraft.

Its public surface includes font loading from resource packs, user-definable themes that are also distributed through resource packs, resizing of the game viewport through a dock-space layout, and access to the native file browser. The package com.igrium.craftui.impl is internal and may change without warning, so only the public API should be relied on. The mod is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later and is listed with public links to its source code and issue tracker.

Key features

  1. Dear ImGui integration

Mods built on the framework get a Java extension of Dear ImGui with its window, widget and layout calls already wired to Minecraft rendering.

  2. Resource-pack fonts

Fonts are loaded from resource packs, so a pack can change the typeface used by every CraftUI window.

  3. Themes from resource packs

Color themes are defined in resource packs, letting a pack restyle the interface without any code changes.

  4. Dock-space viewport

A dock-space layout lets the game viewport be resized alongside editor panels inside the game window.

  5. Native file browser

A native file browser dialog can be opened from an interface, so mods can ask the player to pick files on disk.

How it compares

Full comparison

imgui-mc is a Fabric client-side mod for 1.20.4 – 1.21.4 under the MIT License, and it is open source. Fabric Gui ImGui is a Fabric client-side mod with a much wider range, 1.8.9 – 26.3, under the Apache License 2.0, also open source. ImGui Blaze3D is client-side only for 26.2 – 26.3 and is covered by the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only. CraftUI is a library rather than a single-purpose tool, and it adds its own themes, fonts and viewport handling on top of the binding.

Questions

Which game versions does CraftUI support?

Release builds cover 1.21.4 – 26.3, and the latest Fabric file is 1.0.1 for 26.2, published on 2026-10-13. Files exist for 1.21.4, 26.2 and 26.3.

Does CraftUI need to be installed on servers?

No. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy.

Is CraftUI safe to depend on for its package internals?

Only the public API is intended for other mods. The package com.igrium.craftui.impl is considered internal and may change without warning, so depending on it can break in later releases.

What the author says

Over the past few years, I've noticed a growing use of ImGui in utility mods such as Flashback. However, due to technical constraints, none of these mods can be compatible with each other (and if they are, they're extremely jank). CraftUI is a framework that attempts to fix this. Being a minecraft-specific wrapper…
