VO: True Sleep
by dasikigaijin
True Sleep, a Fabric mod by dasikigaijin, replaces the instant night skip of vanilla sleep with a timelapse in which the world keeps running while the player rests.
What it does
Instead of a black fade that jumps to morning, the mod speeds up world time so the sun and moon visibly cross the sky. Crops grow, furnaces smelt and brewing stands keep working at their normal random tick rates during the accelerated night. A morning transition gradually eases the player's vision and sound back to normal when waking.
Sleeping in a bed near a window lets the player watch the starry sky pass, and a tamed cat can follow to the bed and curl up. Quiet Clock synchronization, insomnia and phantom mitigation are included, and the settings can be changed in-game while playing.
The mod requires Dasik Library and Fabric API. It runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it, and it is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, making it open source. Builds cover 1.20.1 – 26.3, with the latest Fabric file, 1.0.0+1.21.11, made for 1.21.11 on 2026-10-13.
Key features
Timelapse night
Time runs fast through the night while the world keeps simulating, so the sky visibly moves.
Furnaces and crops keep working
Smelting, crop growth and brewing continue during the accelerated time instead of freezing.
Gentle morning transition
Waking up eases the player's vision and sound back to normal rather than cutting to daylight.
In-game configuration
True Sleep parameters can be changed while the game is running, without restarting.

Use cases
Window beds
A bed placed near a window lets players watch the night sky change while they rest.
Multiplayer servers
Servers can drop arbitrary sleep skips and keep the world processing crops and furnaces during sleep.
Who it’s for: Players who want sleep to feel less abrupt, and server owners who want to avoid freezing world processing during sleep skips.

What the author says
Vanilla Minecraft sleep is an instant, jarring black screen fade. You click a bed, the screen cuts to black for two seconds, and it is suddenly broad daylight. In that instant snap, nocturnal immersion is completely severed: you never experience the tranquil rotation of stars, passing weather systems, or the gentle…
