Useless Upgrade Template removes the need for the Netherite Upgrade Template by letting players use a gold ingot in its place at the smithing table.

What it does

Players can get Netherite tools without the Netherite Upgrade Template: a gold ingot takes its slot in the smithing table, so the usual trip to a bastion for the template is no longer needed. The mod keeps the Netherite Upgrade Template in the game but makes it useless for this purpose, and it does not add any new recipe or item of its own.

Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric and Quilt. The mod is server-side and is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with builds covering the range listed on its files and snapshot builds among them. Only the server requires it, so players join without installing anything, and the code is open source under the MIT License.

  1. Gold ingot replaces the template

    A gold ingot works in the template slot of the smithing table, so Netherite tools can be upgraded without the template.

  2. Template slot restriction

    A gold ingot cannot be placed in the template slot by shift-clicking; it must be dragged or dropped into the slot.

  3. Enderite Mod support

    Enderite Mod is supported on 1.20.1 – 1.21.11 on Fabric, with diamond replacing the Enderite Upgrade Template.

  4. Lined redstone

    Vanilla dusty redstone lines are replaced with straight-line redstone designed for cleaner circuit layouts.

  5. Powder snow borders

    Powder snow blocks are bordered so players can see and avoid falling into them.
