Transparent Cosmetics
by GayCookie
Transparent Cosmetics lets players show off their skin while the armor they wear stays hidden in its own cosmetic slots.
What it does
Equipping items in the mod's cosmetic slots hides the armor a player is wearing, so the skin can be displayed without taking the armor off. Cosmetic Armor Trinkets introduces transparent gear that the mod integrates with, and Fabric API must also be present. Files are published for Fabric only, across 11 release versions covering 1.16.5 – 1.19.4.
The mod is meant for players who collect cosmetic gear and want a clean look in screenshots or on a server. Its latest Fabric file, 1.5.1+1.19.4, was released on 2023-05-29 for 1.19.4. It runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it, and it is released under a custom license that is not open source. Public source code and an issue tracker are linked from its listing.

Use cases
Showing a skin in screenshots
A player who wants a clean view of a skin can equip cosmetic pieces over the armor and keep the armor on underneath.
Server cosmetics
Server owners who run cosmetic gear can install the mod on the server and on every player's client so the slots work for everyone.
Who it’s for: Players who collect cosmetic gear and want to display a skin without unequipping their armor, and server owners who run cosmetic item sets on Fabric for 1.19.4 and earlier versions.
How it compares
Tatsu is a Fabric mod for 1.20.1 – 1.21.6 that runs on client and server, under the MIT License and not open source, so it targets a later range than Transparent Cosmetics. KirinSkinFix is open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license and is client-side only, so players can use it without any server install, but it covers 1.16.5 – 1.18. Invisible Armor Items is open source under the MIT License and runs on client and server for 1.20.1 only.
