Tools On My Back (TOMB)

by ZipeStudio

Tools On My Back, or TOMB, shows the last tool a player used on the character's back, so the held item stays visible while the hands are busy.

What it does

The mod is a client-side visual addition: it displays the most recently used tool on the player's back, and only the player running it sees the change. Players can give the look an immersive, seasoned-traveler style for adventure play. Support covers resource packs with custom models, and CIT Resewn packs work with it too.

Each tool gets a display entry for position, scale, rotation and flip, so a sword, axe or other item can sit where its model suits. Entries can be created by picking an item from the inventory, by adding an empty type ID for the hand, or by applying one entry to every item of the same type. NBT filters can tell apart items that were renamed, retextured or given a custom model, and each variant can receive its own entry. Fabric API is required, and Mod Menu is optional. Files cover 1.20.1 – 26.3 for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and the license is Creative Commons Attribution No Derivatives 4.0, so the mod is not open source.

Key features

  1. Last-used tool on the back

The most recently used tool is displayed on the player's back, updating as the player switches items.

  2. In-game display editor

An in-game editor sets the position, scale, rotation and flip of each item's display entry, per entry.

  3. Profile copy and paste

A profile can be copied and pasted as one line of text, and other players see a clickable TOMB Import chip in chat.

  4. Resource pack model support

Items with custom models in resource packs are supported, and CIT Resewn packs work with the display entries.
