Throwable Dye
Throwable Dye lets players throw dye items at blocks, and the hit block changes to the matching colored variant.
What it does
When a thrown dye hits a block, the mod reads the block's identifier and looks for a colored variant whose name contains the dye color. It swaps the color segment of the identifier for the thrown dye color, so a hit on a plain concrete block returns a concrete block in the dye's color. If that lookup finds nothing, the mod falls back to a mapping in its config file, which lists a default colored variant for each base block.
Base game blocks are supported without extra setup. Modded blocks work in some cases, but others need an entry added by hand to the config file, named throwabledye.json, which follows a documented syntax with a working example. Some base blocks, such as glass and terracotta, use a different naming pattern, and the config maps those to their colored variants.
Throwable Dye requires Fabric API. It is published for Fabric only, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files cover 1.19 – 1.20.2 with 8 release versions, and the mod is released under the MIT License, so the code is open source.
Key features
Throwable dyes
Dye items can be thrown, and they change blocks on impact rather than being used in crafting.
Color matching by block identifier
The hit block's identifier is checked for a color name, and that name is replaced with the thrown dye's color.
Config mapping for special blocks
A throwabledye.json file maps base blocks such as glass or terracotta to their colored variants.
Modded block support
A config event lets some modded blocks take part, with entries added manually in the same file.

Use cases
Recoloring builds
Builders can recolor sections of a structure by throwing dyes at blocks instead of breaking and replacing them.
Server custom content
Server owners can add modded blocks to the config so dyes affect the blocks their players use.
Who it’s for: Builders on Fabric who want to recolor base game blocks quickly, and server owners who want to extend the mapping to modded blocks through the config file.
How it compares
Unidye is a Fabric mod for the same client and server environment, published for 1.20 – 1.21.1 under All rights reserved and not open source. Dyes is a Fabric, Forge and Quilt mod that needs the server but leaves clients optional, released under the MIT License for 1.20.1 – 1.20.4, and it is not open source.

What the author says
This is a mod that allows you to throw dyes! Throwing it at a block with a colored variant (eg. concrete) will dye the block the color of the dye you threw. This should work with every vanilla block.
