Minecraft: Tears of Elytra

by MixedSkeptic

Minecraft: Tears of Elytra adds music and audio cues to gliding with elytra, inspired by gliding in Tears of the Kingdom.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21.1 – 26.3

What it does

The mod tracks descent while a player glides and plays a soundtrack that changes with flight. Dynamic falling music fades in and out, a approach cue sounds as the ground nears, and a touchdown sound plays on landing. A landing toast names the biome and the horizontal distance flown.

Timings, volumes and cooldowns can be adjusted through Mod Menu. Tears of Elytra is client-side only, so only the player's client needs it. It requires Cloth Config API, Fabric API and Mod Menu, and is published for Fabric across 1.21.1 – 26.3, with the latest file built for 1.21.11. The code is under the MIT License, and the project is not open source.

Key features

  1. Gliding music

Background music plays while the player glides, with the music changing as the descent continues.

  2. Landing cues

An approach sound triggers near the ground, followed by a touchdown sound when the player lands.

  3. Landing toast

A message on screen names the biome landed in and the distance covered during the flight.

  4. Configurable audio

Sound timings, volumes and cooldowns can be set through the Mod Menu configuration screen.

What the author says

Tears of Elytra dynamically plays the skydiving music mechanic from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom when you use an elytra. The mod also tracks your descent and plays an approach cue as the ground nears, then plays the landing sound from TOTK on touchdown. An on-screen text names the biome you landed in and…
