Subtitles+
by Naw7
Subtitles+ replaces the subtitle display in Minecraft with a customizable panel that shows color-coded sound icons for each sound.
What it does
The mod swaps the vanilla subtitle drawing for its own system. Each entry is color-coded and carries a sound icon, and the list can be placed anywhere on screen, sized with a scale from 0.5x to 3.0x, and given a background. Smooth slide-in animations introduce new entries, and the list can expand upwards or downwards from its anchor.
A built-in on-screen editor handles placement. A player drags the panel to a new position or pulls its corner handle to resize it. Auto Flip switches the list between up and down depending on where the panel sits, which requires Guides to be present. The Preview Mode setting cycles between OFF, Outline only and Full preview, so the layout can be checked before playing.
The mod runs on the client alone, so a server does not need it and players join without installing it. Fabric API is required, and Mod Menu is optional for opening the settings. Files are published for Fabric only, for four game versions 1.21.11 – 26.1.2, with 2.2+26.1 for 26.1.2 as the latest file. The code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Color-coded sound icons
Each subtitle entry shows a sound icon and a color that marks the sound category, so sources are easier to tell apart.
Drag and resize editor
The on-screen editor moves the subtitle panel anywhere and resizes it with a corner handle.
Adjustable scale and background
Scale runs from 0.5x to 3.0x, and a background option can be toggled behind the list.
Preview Mode
Preview Mode cycles between OFF, Outline only and Full preview while the layout is being adjusted.
Expansion direction
The list can grow upwards or downwards from its anchor point, and Auto Flip follows the panel's position.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players on Fabric who want the subtitle display to be movable, scalable and color-coded. Servers do not need the mod, so it is a personal client choice.
How it compares
Subtitle Mod is a client and server mod under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license that is not open source, with Fabric, Forge and NeoForge files for 1.20 – 26.2. Bossbar Tweaks is a client-side only Fabric mod under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, open source, for 1.21.9 – 26.2, and it changes boss bars instead of subtitles.
