STK's Tool Trims
by Estecka
With STK's Tool Trims, tools and weapons can carry the same armor trim patterns that vanilla armor already uses, applied at the smithing table.
What it does
Vanilla trim templates can be applied to bows, crossbows, swords, spears, pickaxes, axes, shovels and hoes, so a trimmed tool looks different from its plain version. The trim is applied through a smithing recipe and the trimmed tool keeps its normal function. Material variation is handled inside each item model, so the mod does not need separate textures for every material.
The mod is server required and client optional: the server must run it, while players may add it for the trimmed textures to show. A datapack implementation works on server platforms without a loader. Versions depend on the approach: the Vanilla Stateless implementation covers 1.21.5 onward, the Vanilla Stateful approach covers 1.21.2 – 1.21.4, and the Stateless approach for 1.21.1 relies on Variants-CIT on the client. Files for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt are published for 26.3 at 1.2.0+26.3+mod, with builds across 1.21 – 26.3.
The code is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0, and the mod is not open source. Source code and an issue tracker are publicly linked.
Key features
Trims on tools and weapons
Vanilla armor trim templates apply to bows, crossbows, swords, spears, pickaxes, axes, shovels and hoes.
Smithing table recipes
Trims are applied at a smithing table with the vanilla trim templates, so no new crafting station is needed.
Stateless datapack
A stateless datapack adds the trimmable tag and recipes that give the trim component, leaving the item model untouched.
Compatible textures
Models follow the same construction as trimmed armor, so texture packs that change tool textures work with them.
