Stacks Are Stacks

by A5ho9999

Stacks Are Stacks raises the stack size of items that normally stop at 1 or a smaller limit, so Shulker Boxes, Totems, Enchanted Books and Potions stack to 64 on Fabric servers.

FabricServer-side onlyCustom license1.20 – 26.3

What it does

Players who carry many of the same item can keep them in fewer slots once the server runs this mod. Items that would otherwise stop at a smaller limit are raised to 64, and Shulker Boxes, Totems, Enchanted Books and Potions are among those affected. Removing the mod later does not delete items, but items already stacked above the vanilla limit stay stacked until they are touched.

The mod is installed on the server only, so players join without it. Fabric API is required, and Mod Menu is optional for changing settings in game. The configuration is small, with few options involved. Builds cover 1.20 – 26.3 across 24 release versions, and the latest file targets 26.3.

Bucketing an Axolotl can produce a ghost bucket in some cases, and the author reports a bucket that vanishes when clicked in the inventory. The author describes these as fixable without heavy changes to the Axolotl entity, and some fixes are still listed as lacking.

Key features

  1. Larger stacks

Items capped at a smaller size, including Shulker Boxes, Totems, Enchanted Books and Potions, stack up to 64.

  2. Stacks persist after removal

Items stacked above the vanilla limit keep their size after the mod is removed, and only stacks touched afterwards return to normal.

  3. Minimal configuration

The mod has few settings, so a server runs it after installation with little setup.

  4. Component-based updates

Changes after 1.20.5 follow the move to item components and remove NBT usage for stack sizes.

Questions

Does Stacks Are Stacks need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is a required dependency, so it must be installed on the server with Stacks Are Stacks.

Is the mod needed on the client?

No. Server owners install it, and players connect with no copy of their own.

What happens to items if the mod is removed?

Items already stacked above the vanilla limit keep their size until they are touched, so removing the mod does not delete them.

All your items will stack up to 64 now, what happens when you remove the mod? Well nothing, those stacks should still remain stacked until you touch them. (Just don't throw them into…
