SoulShard

by kikipunk

SoulShard lets players collect souls from creature spawners, then spend them on altars, enchantments and lodestone upgrades in survival and multiplayer worlds.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalCreative Commons Attribution Share Alike 4.01.20 – 1.21.4

What it does

Spawners can be picked up with a Silk Touch tool, leaving an empty spawner item that keeps the creature type it held. A Soulstealer enchantment, available as a book or from the enchanting table, is used to take a soul from a creature. Mob shards host soul mobs, and the shards are used as the main currency of the mod.

An altar is upgraded with one lodestone and one soul, which lets it make further shards. Spawners react to redstone: dropping redstone dust on one activates a redstone control. Spawner conditions decide which mobs spawn, so a player can set a shard to produce a specific creature under known rules.

Installation requires the server to run SoulShard, while players may add it as well. The mod works in survival and multiplayer, and is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. Files cover 1.20 – 1.21.4, and the creative commons license applies, with the code not open source.

Key features

  1. Spawner pickup

A spawner can be mined with Silk Touch and carried as an empty spawner item that remembers its creature type.

  2. Soulstealer enchantment

The Soulstealer enchantment is available from a book or the enchanting table and is used to collect souls from mobs.

  3. Altar upgrades

An altar upgraded with one lodestone and one soul makes a further shard, turning souls into a steady supply.

  4. Redstone control

Dropping redstone dust on a spawner activates a redstone control, so spawners can be switched from circuits.

Use cases

Multiplayer survival

Players on a shared server can gather souls from spawners and trade the shards with each other.

Who it’s for: Players who want spawners to be a resource rather than a fixed block suit SoulShard, especially on survival worlds and multiplayer servers that prefer mobs to be collected and moved.
