Simple Voice Chat Online is a client-side voice chat addon that lets players talk on servers that have no voice plugin installed.

What it does

The addon connects to Simple Voice Chat and carries voice between players without a server-side plugin. Voice goes peer-to-peer whenever the network allows it, and falls back to a relay when it does not. If the server later runs Simple Voice Chat itself, the real connection replaces the fallback automatically. Players who installed the addon can still talk to others who did not.

Installation needs Fabric API and Simple Voice Chat on every loader, so both must sit next to Simple Voice Chat Online on the client. Mod Menu is optional and adds a way to reach the settings screen. The addon is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 20 release versions, 1.20 – 26.3, under All rights reserved, and it is not open source. Public links exist for the source code and the issue tracker.

  1. Voice without a server plugin

    Voice chat works on servers that do not run any voice plugin, because the traffic is exchanged between clients.

  2. Peer-to-peer voice

    Voice frames are sealed with a room key and sent directly between peers when a direct path can be found.

  3. Connection status screen

    A settings screen shows whether each peer is connected directly or through a relay, with a manual Reconnect button.

  4. Rebindable open key

    A key in its own category opens the settings screen, and the binding can be changed in the controls menu.
