Voicely lets players talk by proximity on servers that do not run Simple Voice Chat, by connecting its own client to a voice server.

What it does

Many servers never add Simple Voice Chat, leaving players with a voice mod they cannot use. Voicely fills that gap: a player joins a server with voice chat of its own, and Voicely connects the Simple Voice Chat client to that voice server instead. Proximity voice then works the way it normally would, with voices fading as a player walks away from others.

Voicely stays out of the way on a server that already runs Simple Voice Chat and changes nothing there. The server itself needs nothing installed; only players who want to talk need the mod, and they also need Simple Voice Chat. The mod does not replace Simple Voice Chat or modify its shipped parts. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with builds covering 1.17.1 – 1.21.10 across ten release versions.

Voicely is a client mod, released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Priority and Whisper addons, pv-addon-priority and pv-addon-whisper, are server-side only, open source under the MIT License and cover 1.16.5 – 26.3 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. Discord Proximity is client-side only, open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and limited to Fabric 1.19 – 1.19.3.

Does Voicely need Fabric API?

Yes. On Fabric, Fabric API is a required dependency alongside Simple Voice Chat.

Does the server need Voicely installed?

No. Only the player's game needs it, and servers run without it.

Which versions are verified?

Launch, load and voice connection were confirmed for 1.17.1 – 1.20.6. The 1.21.x versions have seen less real use and the release is an alpha.

Which loader files exist?

Fabric, Forge and NeoForge builds are published for each listed game version, with 0.2.0 for 1.21.10 as the latest file on all three loaders.
