Simple Survival Tweaks

by legoraft

Simple Survival Tweaks changes several survival rules on Fabric servers, including anvil costs, enchanting limits, experience drops and Enderman griefing.

FabricServer-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 onlyOpen source1.19.4 – 1.21

What it does

Players on a server running Simple Survival Tweaks can adjust anvil behaviour: enchanting an item is made cheaper at the anvil, the too-expensive warning no longer stops several enchantments from being stacked on one item, and renaming always costs a single experience level. The mod also lifts the seven-level cap that anvils normally apply, so repairs and combined enchantments can exceed the usual limit.

Other changes cover death and mob behaviour. Experience dropped on death is altered so that half of it is kept rather than the usual full drop. Endermen are prevented from picking up blocks, except pumpkins and melons, which keeps crop farms intact. The debug stick is made functional in survival, so it can be used without creative mode. The mod is a server-side option: it is published for Fabric 1.19.4 – 1.21 and requires Fabric API. Its source is available under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only, so the code is open source.

Key features

  1. Cheaper anvil enchanting

Enchanting at an anvil costs fewer experience levels, making combined enchantments less of a barrier in survival.

  2. Stacking past the warning

The too-expensive warning is lifted, so many enchantments can be applied to a single item in one anvil session.

  3. Flat-cost renaming

Renaming an item always costs one experience level, regardless of the item or the name.

  4. Enderman griefing limit

Endermen no longer take blocks, with pumpkins and melons kept as an exception for farming.

  5. Experience penalty change

The seven-level experience cap is removed, and only half of the experience is dropped on death.

  6. Survival debug stick

The debug stick works in survival mode, so block states can be cycled without creative access.
