Server Tree Feller
by BlankDEV
Server Tree Feller makes a server fell a whole tree when a player sneaks and breaks its base log, and it needs no client mod.
What it does
Sneaking while breaking a log removes the connected trunk and canopy in one action, while a normal break behaves like vanilla and does not drop the whole tree. Logs that players place, or that grow against a house, are remembered and never felled, so builds stay protected. Felling runs bottom up in small batches, which keeps large trees from lagging the server.
The mod is installed only on the server, and vanilla clients connect without any addition. Modded logs are detected through the Ore Dictionary on 1.7.10, 1.12.2 and 1.16.5, and through the minecraft:logs block tag on later versions. Fabric API is required on Fabric, and Quilt builds need it too. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 11 release versions. The mod is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and is not open source.
Key features
Sneak to fell a tree
Breaking a log while sneaking removes the connected tree, and the rest of it comes down with the base log.
Protected player builds
Logs placed by players and remembered trees are never felled, so houses and walls are not taken apart.
Batched bottom-up felling
Felling removes a handful of logs per step, working upward from the base, so a big tree does not cause server lag.
Modded log detection
Logs from other mods are detected automatically, through the Ore Dictionary on older versions and the block tag on newer ones.
Remembers felled trees
The list of trees is kept across server restarts.
