Sanguinis Luxuria

by Auroali

Sanguinis Luxuria is a Fabric magic mod that turns players into vampires who must drink blood to survive, drawing it from entities and villagers.

What it does

Vampires in Sanguinis Luxuria depend on blood to stay alive. Drinking blood gives little hunger and can bring on nausea and blood sickness, along with a few less welcome effects. Each time a player drinks, the blood sickness level rises, and drinking too much brings on stronger effects. Vampires no longer rely on blood left behind by villagers, which the mod describes as a fix to that dependence.

Blood is taken by holding the bite key, which defaults to R, on a living entity and draining it slowly. Draining an entity completely kills it, so the mod asks players to be careful. Vampires also make villagers flee and draw Iron Golems into attacking them, yet a player who wears a Carved Mask keeps villagers from fleeing and keeps Iron Golems from targeting the player, although the mask prevents draining blood.

The mod is published for Fabric alone, for 1.19.2 and 1.20.1. Players need Fabric API, Patchouli, Trinkets and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL), and Cardinal Components API is bundled inside the file. The server and every player need the mod installed. The code is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Blood as a survival need

Vampires must drink blood to survive, and the mod ties that need to hunger and blood sickness.

  2. Blood sickness

Each drink raises the blood sickness level, and heavy drinking brings stronger negative effects.

  3. Draining entities

The bite key lets a vampire drain blood slowly from a living entity, and a full drain kills it.

  4. Carved Mask protection

Wearing a Carved Mask keeps villagers calm and Iron Golems from attacking, while blocking blood drinking.
