SafetyNet
by Melworks
SafetyNet lets a server give chosen players keep-inventory, instant respawn and other safety options while the rest of the world stays hardcore.
What it does
Hardcore worlds punish every death, and SafetyNet is built for the case where some players want to keep that rule while others want a softer one. A server owner can switch individual players to mob-protected keep-inventory deaths with instant respawn, so one player dies more gently and the world stays hardcore for everyone else. Settings persist across logout and death, and a toggle command turns a player's protection off when the same command is run again.
SafetyNet is a small server mod. Players do not need to install it, nor do they need Hardcore World for other players to be unchanged; only the server runs the mod, and singleplayer worlds are covered by the same server-side setup. Each option can be set by player name, and a name of Alex can be used to target a player called Alex or to make SafetyNet ignore that name. The mod is published for Fabric only, in game versions 26.1.2 – 26.2, with 1.1.0 for 26.2 as the latest file, released under the MIT License but not open source.
Key features
Per-player keep inventory
Chosen players keep their inventory on death through the safetynet keepinventory option.
Immediate respawn
A separate option respawns a player at once after death, without the death screen delay.
Toggle command
Running the same command again turns the protection off for that player.
Saved settings
Each player's setting is kept across logout and death, so it does not reset when they return.
Name-based targeting
Options can be applied by real Minecraft name, with a special case for a player called Alex.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Who it’s for: Server owners who run hardcore or survival worlds and want to give selected players different death rules without changing the rules for everyone else.
How it compares
Gamemode Hardcore is server-side only, open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 only, and published for Fabric across 26.1.2 – 26.3, so it covers a wider version span than SafetyNet. Individual Keep Inventory (Updated) is also server-side only and open source under the MIT License, with Fabric files for 1.21.2 – 26.2. Individual Keep Inventory Refabricated is server-side only and under the MIT License, but is not open source and has files for 26.2 alone.

One of us dies more often than the rest, and we still wanted to keep hardcore on for everyone without turning the whole world into normal survival or making revives obvious. Safetynet is a small server mod that lets you turn on extra help for one player or multiple. The world…
