Unsettling

by Melworks

Unsettling is a Fabric mod that layers quiet, creepy ambience over ordinary play, using sounds, distant shapes and odd chat lines that appear only now and then.

FabricClient and serverMIT License26.1.2 – 26.2

What it does

Its events are slow and subtle rather than loud. A distant shape may stand at the edge of view, a faint sound may seem to come from nearby blocks, and a rare fake join or leave message can appear in chat. The mod is meant to feel unsettling without loud jump-scare spam, so it changes little about normal gameplay.

Nearly every behavior can be tuned in the in-game settings screen. Simple timing presets make events rarer or more frequent without adjusting a slider by hand. Debug commands can be run by a player, from the server console, or with the operator permission that most servers grant. Valid names work only when typed as one word, with slashes.

Unsettling requires Fabric API and Mod Menu, and the Config button in Mod Menu opens its settings. The mod is published for Fabric only, across two game versions, 26.1.2 and 26.2, and the latest file is 1.0.5 for 26.2. It runs on the client and the server, so both need it. Its license is the MIT License, and the code is not open source in the sense of a public repository.
