Rolling Down in the Deep
by enjarai
Rolling Down in the Deep gives players full pitch, yaw and roll control while swimming, and keeps swim mode active underwater without the usual limits.
What it does
Mouse horizontal movement controls roll and mouse vertical movement controls pitch, while the strafe keys still yaw the player at the same time. Swimming and diving become more open, and the default controls follow the modified movement once the mod is active. The changes are meant for underwater environments, where the camera can turn freely in any direction.
The mod modifies swimming mechanics significantly, including letting players remain in swim mode without holding a key. It can also desync the server in a controlled way. Some server-side anticheat systems may flag this, so server owners should check with their admins before using it on a server they do not run. Configuration is done in-game through ModMenu and YACL: open the mods list, press the config button and adjust the options.
The mod requires CICADA, Do a Barrel Roll and Fabric API, and it is published for Fabric and NeoForge across nine release versions, from 1.20 up to 1.21.1. It runs on the client only, so a server does not need it, and the code is released under the MIT License as open source.
Key features
Full rotation while swimming
Pitch, yaw and roll are all controllable while swimming, so the camera can turn fully in the water.
Swim mode without holding keys
Players can stay in swim mode without continuously holding a movement key, changing how long they remain underwater.
Mouse-based camera control
Horizontal mouse movement sets roll and vertical mouse movement sets pitch, with strafe keys adding yaw.
In-game configuration
Options can be changed from the config screen opened through ModMenu and YACL, without editing files.
