RiverInJungle
by Nikrecs
RiverInJungle changes jungle biomes by carving wide, natural rivers into the terrain itself, with sunken beds, sandy banks and water that meets the sea.
What it does
The mod generates large rivers inside jungle biomes as part of the landscape instead of placing a water channel on top of finished ground. Each river valley is carved the same way vanilla carves its rivers, giving a sloped bank, a sand or dirt bed and water up to sea level. Rivers are flat and low-lying, close to sea level, so the water pools in the lowland jungle and gives the wide, winding look of an Amazon-style waterway. Rivers that reach the coast empty straight into the sea, and where a river meets a lake or another low valley the transitions blend without visible joins.
Coastal jungles receive rivers where the ocean is nearby. High mountain jungles and small island jungles stay mostly dry, since flowing water cannot sit on a steep slope. Surface rules lay sand, dirt and grass along the water's edge and underwater just as they do for vanilla beaches and rivers. Fish that live in jungle water appear in the new channels, so the waterways feel populated. The mod is pure data-driven worldgen, adds no new blocks and needs no extra configuration. Terrain outside jungle biomes is left unchanged.
RiverInJungle is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 8 game versions, 1.19.2 – 26.3, and is released under the MIT License, which is not open source. It is server-side only, so players join without installing it.
Key features
Carved river valleys
Rivers are carved into the terrain with sloped banks and a sunken bed, not laid on top of the ground.
Natural banks and beds
Sand, dirt and grass follow the water's edge and underwater, matching vanilla rivers and beaches.
Clean sea and lake joins
A river that reaches a coast or a lower valley merges into it without visible joins.
Jungle wildlife in rivers
Jungle fish and salmon appear in the new waterways, so the rivers are not empty.

What the author says
Adds wide, natural-looking rivers that generate as a real part of the terrain inside jungle biomes. Instead of placing a channel on top of finished ground, the river valleys are carved into the world the same way vanilla makes its rivers — so you get a proper sunken riverbed, sand and dirt banks, water filled to sea…
