Streams Reflowing
by nice.john
Streams Reflowing lets water carve waterways that follow the terrain across a Minecraft world, adding streams, lakes and rivers.
What it does
Water in this mod picks its course from the shape of the land, descending slopes and collecting in basins at different heights before it reaches rivers and oceans. Stream generation is configurable and can be disabled entirely if only the vanilla water tweaks are wanted. Rivers also get a consistent directional flow toward nearby oceans, and boats and items drift downstream with it, which can be turned off in the config.
The mod requires Fabric API on Fabric. It is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 17 release versions, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need it. The code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved.
Key features
Terrain-following streams
Streams read elevation and terrain shape to carve waterways that feel like they belong to the landscape.
Varying lake elevations
Basins sit at different heights depending on climate, and arid areas get shallow ponds and empty beds instead of full lakes.
Directional river flow
Vanilla and modded rivers get a flow that drains toward nearby oceans when they connect.
Flowing water over sources
Water keeps moving across source blocks, so elevation drops form cascades instead of flat pools, and this can be toggled off.
Configurable generation
Stream and flow behavior can be adjusted or disabled independently in the configuration.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who want waterways that follow the terrain in a vanilla or modded world, and server owners who run worldgen mods and want streams that fit around them. Lowering the quality preset or disabling flowing vanilla water is suggested on heavily modded worlds or slower machines.
