Reel Fishing
Reel Fishing adds a fishing minigame, modular fishing rods and new fish to Fabric and Quilt servers for 1.20.4, where a player reels in a catch by timing the rod against the fish.
What it does
Catching a fish opens a minigame in which the rod's stability and obstruction pattern decide how hard the catch is. Rods are assembled at a Fishing Rod Bench from a rod, a reel and a hook, and the wood used for the rod changes how it behaves. Less stable rods make the minigame faster and harder, while more stable rods carry bigger obstruction patterns.
Fish are tied to biomes, so the same rod will bring up different catches depending on where it is cast. Reels made from wood, bamboo or copper slow a fish's escape, and better reels require Bonework Mechanisms. Hooks are made from iron or fish bones and are matched to fish categories, so a deep fish is only caught with a Weighted Hook. Fish Bones come from eating cooked fish and can be used to upgrade fishing gear.
The mod is server-side only, so players join without installing it, and it needs Fabric API. Polymer is bundled inside the mod. Reel Fishing is open source under the MIT License and is published for Fabric and Quilt, with the latest files for 1.20.4 released on 2024-01-16.
Key features
Fishing minigame
Each catch plays out as a timed minigame in which the player keeps the fish on the rod's obstruction pattern.
Modular fishing rods
A rod is built from a rod, a reel and a hook, each changing how the catch feels and what it can bring up.
Biome-based fish
Different biomes hold different fish, so exploring new areas changes what the rod can catch.
Hook and fish categories
Hooks are sorted by power against fish categories, and some fish are only caught with a specific hook.
Fish Bones upgrades
Fish Bones obtained from cooked fish can be used to upgrade fishing equipment.

No Fishing Rod is server-side only and open source is not claimed, with Fabric files for 1.21 – 1.21.10 under All rights reserved.
