Dust
Dust covers the world in a server-side layer of dust that players must clean up with brushes, wind charges and breezes.
What it does
Dust builds up around players as they move through the world, and breaking dusty blocks spreads it onto neighboring blocks. Hostile Dust Bunnies spawn in areas that have become heavily dusty, so the buildup has consequences beyond appearance. The mod depends on Fabric API and bundles Polymer, and it is released under the MIT License as open source.
Several tools deal with the dust. Brushes remove it by hand, wind charges clear it in an area, and breezes remove dust near them on their own. Because the environment is server-side only, players join the server without installing anything, and the server alone decides how the dust behaves. Files are published for Fabric only, for Minecraft 1.21, and the latest build is 1.0.6+1.21, released on 2024-07-12. The first release came out on 2024-06-19.
Key features
Dust accumulation
Dust gathers around players over time, so the world slowly changes while they explore and build.
Brush cleanup
Brushes can be used to remove dust from a block or an area, which is the most direct way to clear it.
Spreading dust
Breaking a dusty block sends dust onto nearby blocks, so clearing one spot can leave dust elsewhere.
Wind charges and breezes
Wind charges clear dust when used, and breezes actively remove dust in their vicinity.
Dust Bunnies
Dust Bunnies are hostile mobs that appear in areas where the dust has built up heavily, so they show up as the buildup grows.

Use cases
Keeping builds clean
Players who build in a shared world can use brushes and wind charges to keep dust from covering finished areas.
Dusty adventure maps
Map makers can rely on dust accumulation and Dust Bunnies to make exploration feel more tense.
Who it’s for: Server owners who want a dust mechanic in their world, and players who join those servers and need to clean up after themselves.
How it compares
Better Bunnies is a Fabric mod for 1.21.1 that runs on client and server under the MIT License, and it is not open source. No Glow Ink Sacs is also Fabric-only for 1.21.1, but it is server-side only and released under All rights reserved. Dust is server-side only, MIT licensed and open source, so it sits closer to No Glow Ink Sacs in environment and to Better Bunnies in license.
