Eating Animation

by theoness1

Eating Animation shows a sprite animation on food and drink items while the player consumes them, and it only runs on the client.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.16 – 1.21.3

What it does

Edible and drinkable items get a sprite animation during use, so the held item visibly changes as the player eats or drinks. The mod targets items added by food content, and its animations are drawn from a resource pack, which is how the look can be changed without touching the code.

Distribution covers Fabric only, with Fabric API not listed as a dependency. Client-side only, it does not need to be present on a server, so players can install it alone. Its source is available under the MIT License, which makes it open source. Builds exist for 1.16 – 1.21.3 across 25 release versions, with 1.9.73 for 1.21.3 as the latest Fabric file on the beta channel.

Key features

  1. Eating sprite animation

Edible and drinkable items show a sprite animation while the player uses them, instead of a static held item.

  2. Custom model data

Animations can be defined for custom model data, letting resource pack authors cover items from other mods.

  3. Food mod coverage

Items added by food content can be animated when a resource pack covers them, so the effect extends past vanilla food.
