Food+ extends the vanilla food set with new edible items gathered from mobs and blocks, and players who want more varied meals can take them from world sources.
What it does
Food+ adds more food in the style of the vanilla items. Several of the new foods come from blocks and creatures that the base game already has: a sword root block yields a root when right-clicked, lichen can be harvested from lichen mines, and a pitcher crop provides turnips. Strider meat, frog legs, bat wings and sniffer meat are taken from their namesake mobs, which places the food under the usual hunting and farming loops of the game.
Mysterious Medicine restores one heart when eaten, and deepslate structures in the world hold some of the items, so exploration can supply them as well. The mod runs on Fabric for game versions 1.17 – 1.21, with 12 release versions covered and the latest file 2.31 for 1.21, published on 2024-06-25. Client and server both need it, so servers and every player install the mod. Food+ is open source under the MIT License, and its source code and issue tracker are public.
