Player2 AI NPC
by Goodbird
Player2 AI NPC places AI companions into the world that players can talk to, ask for help, and send on tasks.
What it does
Companions are embodied agents with bodies and inventories. They can break and place blocks, use tools, fight, and move through the world like a player would, which separates them from chat-only assistants. Players give them instructions in natural language rather than through fixed command syntax, and a companion may ask for materials, report low food, or explore a dark cave on its own. Companions can also watch the player back and take part in the adventure.
Getting a companion running takes a launcher app that stays in the background and handles the setup, after the Fabric or Forge mod and its required libraries are installed. The mod depends on Architectury API, Fabric API, and PlayerEngine, the framework that powers the companions' AI. Player2 AI NPC runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 8 release versions, 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, and the code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Embodied companions
Each companion has a body, an inventory, and the ability to act within the world instead of only replying in chat.
Natural language commands
Players talk to companions in ordinary sentences, and the companion carries out requests such as gathering wood or crafting a shield.
Autonomous behavior
Companions can report low food, ask for materials, and explore on their own, so they take part in the adventure.
Background launcher
A separate app runs alongside the game and handles the AI setup automatically once it is installed.

Use cases
Solo adventures
A player can add a companion to a single-player world and ask it to gather, build, or fight during exploration.
Multiplayer servers
Server owners can run companions for their players, since the mod has to be installed on the server as well as on clients.
Who it’s for: Players who want companions that act in the world rather than answering in chat, and server owners who want to run them for their community. The mod needs its three required dependencies and a launcher app installed before it works.
