CNPC-Geckolib-Addon

by Goodbird

CNPC-Geckolib-Addon lets CustomNPCs-Unofficial characters use Geckolib animated models, so an NPC can be built on a Geckolib model instead of the default body.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.12.2 – 1.20.1

What it does

The addon connects CustomNPCs-Unofficial with Geckolib. A player who creates an NPC can pick a model type that draws the character from a Geckolib model, with its own animation set. Idle, walk, hurt and attack animations can each be chosen per NPC from the animations the model contains.

Animations can also be driven by scripts. A script can start or stop an animation, and it can read Geckolib keyframe instructions to trigger custom behavior at set points in an animation. Geckolib models can be used by scripted items and blocks as well, so the same animated assets appear outside NPCs too.

Installation needs CustomNPCs-Unofficial and Geckolib on Forge or NeoForge. The addon runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. Files are published for 1.20.1, with older release versions 1.12.2, 1.16.5 and 1.18.2 listed in the catalog, and the code is released under the MIT License, so it is open source.

Questions

Does CNPC-Geckolib-Addon need Geckolib installed?

Yes. Geckolib is a required dependency, along with CustomNPCs-Unofficial, so both must be installed next to the addon.

Which loader should a server use with this addon?

Forge and NeoForge both have files for 1.20.1, with the latest Forge file being 1.20.1-1.0.6 and the latest NeoForge file 1.20.1-1.0.0.

Do players need the addon on their own computers?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.
