What it does

Phonk Edit Mod transforms gameplay into the style of viral short-video edits. Visual effects are timed to the music: on each beat a BOOM effect fires, the zoom pulses in and out, a blur radiates from the center and the shake intensifies. The mod ships with 9 built-in phonk tracks and 10 skull images, and players can add their own audio through a resource pack that carries custom phonk songs.

Images are chosen from the mod's skull set, from a player's own PNG files, or from both. Own images go into the phonk-edit-mod/custom images folder inside the .minecraft directory and can be loaded without restarting the game. Images are picked at random and alternate between sources, and a custom-only mode uses just the player's files. Invalid or non-PNG files trigger a toast notification instead of failing silently.

The config menu opens with the O key or a button, and it includes a shortcut to the images folder. The mod is client-side only, so a server does not need it, and it is released under the MIT License. Its code and issue tracker are public. It is built for Minecraft 1.21 and 1.21.1 with Fabric Loader 0.17.3 or later, Fabric API 0.102.0 or later and Java 21. Fabric API is required, and the mod is not compatible with OptiFine, where Sodium is the suggested alternative.

Key features

  1. Beat-synced effects

Each beat triggers a BOOM effect, and the zoom, blur and shake respond to the music's timing.

  2. Custom images

Players place PNG files in the custom images folder and load them into the rotation without restarting.

  3. Custom audio

A resource pack can add custom phonk songs alongside the nine built-in tracks.

  4. Image source modes

Mod images, custom images or a mix of both can be selected, with random alternation between sources.

  5. Error notices

Invalid files, including non-PNG images, produce toast notifications so the problem is visible in game.
