OmniCompass
by MeVerdo
OmniCompass adds compasses that point to biomes and structures, and players choose a target from a menu opened by right-clicking the compass while holding it.
What it does
Two compasses are included by default, a biome compass and a structure compass, and both can be disabled in the config. Players right-click a compass to open a menu for selecting its target, so one compass can be pointed at many different places. The mod also supports adding more compasses, and server owners can limit which targets are offered through advancements.
Most of the content is data-driven. A datapack can create new compasses that track chosen biomes or structures, can edit the existing ones, or remove the defaults entirely. Biome compasses are crafted from four planks and structure compasses from four bricks. The compass renderer needs only one base texture, with the needle and shadow tinted automatically.
OmniCompass requires Fabric API and Forge Config API Port. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. Builds exist for 1.21.1 and 26.1.2 on Fabric and NeoForge, and the code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Biome structure compasses
New compasses locate biome structures, letting players find villages, temples and other generated sites.
Target selection menu
Right-clicking a compass while holding it opens a menu where the player picks the destination.
Datapack-driven compasses
Server owners and pack makers can create, edit or remove compasses through simple datapacks.
Advancement-limited targets
Compass targets can be restricted behind advancements, so players reach distant destinations later.
