NoteBlockHud

by kvapilvaclav0

With NoteBlockHud, a player aiming at a note block sees its exact pitch, octave and instrument in a small readout at the top-left of the screen.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21.8 – 1.21.11

What it does

The readout appears only while the crosshair points at a note block, and it does not show when the F1 key hides the HUD or a menu is open. It gives the pitch as a musical note with its octave, such as F 4, and covers the whole note block range from F 3 to F 5. Note 0 is F 3 and the scale climbs chromatically up to note 24, which is F 5, so a player can count the right-clicks needed to reach any note.

The readout also shows the raw note value from 0 to 24 and the instrument the block plays, such as Harp, Bass, Bell, Flute, Xylophone or Pling. Both values are read straight from the block's state, and the instrument is shown according to the material of the block underneath. A key toggles the readout on or off, and an action-bar message confirms the new state. The mod is meant for tuning redstone music by reading values instead of clicking and listening.

Key features

  1. Pitch and octave readout

Displays the name and octave of the note block under the crosshair, such as F 4, for every value in the full range from F 3 to F 5.

  2. Raw note value

Displays the note value from 0 to 24, so the number of right-clicks needed to reach a pitch is known exactly.

  3. Instrument display

Names the instrument the block plays, taken from the material of the block underneath it.

  4. Toggle and confirmation

A key turns the readout on or off, and an action-bar message confirms the current state.

Building melodies

A player laying out a song can check the note name and octave of each block while placing them in a row.

Who it’s for: Players who build note block music with redstone, and anyone who wants the exact pitch of a note block without listening to it.
