No More Tree Punching
by spacegoat3
No More Tree Punching makes the start of a Fabric world harder by requiring flint tools before wood can be broken.
What it does
Logs cannot be gathered by hand, so the first tool a player needs is an axe. Crafting the axe takes a Wooden Axe, and building that requires a Flint Axe first. The Flint Axe needs a Flint Knife, a Stick and one Flint, and the knife itself is built from flint.
Grass yields Plant Fiber when broken with the Flint Knife. Three fibers combine into Plant String, which joins a Stick and a Flint to make the Flint Axe. New items can be placed on the ground and sit on the surface like other blocks, and some drops from blocks change. The mod does not spawn the flint items naturally, unlike the Tree Punching mod.
The mod is published for Fabric alone, across the game versions 1.17 – 1.18.1, with the newest build Beta-1.0 for 1.18.1 released on 2021-12-15 on the alpha channel. It is client-side only, so servers run without it and players install it on their own. Alcatraz Escapee is credited with the original idea behind the mod and with most of its textures, and the source code is released under the MIT License as open source. The author notes the project is still in development and may contain bugs and missing features.
