MoreMcmeta Emissive Textures
by soir20
With MoreMcmeta Emissive Textures installed, blocks, items, entities, block entities and liquids can glow through resource packs that would otherwise need OptiFine.
What it does
The plugin adds emissive texture support to MoreMcmeta. It reads both the .properties files that OptiFine-style packs use and emissive resource packs built from .moremcmeta JSON files, so a player can use existing packs or write their own. Emissive parts stay lit regardless of the surrounding light level.
It is a client-side plugin, so only the player's game needs it and a server does not. The plugin requires MoreMcmeta 4.0.0 or newer, and the MoreMcmeta mod must be installed alongside it. The mod is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and is open source. Builds cover 1.16.5 – 1.21.1 on Fabric and Forge, with 11 release versions in total.
Key features
Emissive blocks and items
Emissive texture layers can be applied to blocks, items and liquids through a resource pack.
Mobs and block entities
Mobs, the player model and block entities such as chests can carry glowing layers as well.
Property file packs
Packs that use the .properties emissive format load without any extra install beyond this plugin.
JSON emissive packs
Resource pack authors can define emissive layers with .moremcmeta JSON files for a standalone pack.
Bundled rendering API
The plugin includes the Fabric rendering API inside its jar, so no separate rendering library is needed to load it.

Use cases
Glowing resource packs
Players who use packs with glowing lamps, eyes or ores can display those details without OptiFine.
Pack authoring
Resource pack creators can build emissive layers with JSON files instead of the OptiFine property format.
Who it’s for: The mod suits players who run Minecraft on Fabric or Forge with resource packs that include emissive textures, and pack authors who want to target players without OptiFine.
How it compares
Entity Texture Features is client-side only and open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, with files for 1.16.5 – 26.3 on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. Continuity is also client-side only and open source under the same license, but covers 1.17.1 – 26.3 on the same four loaders. Emissive Skin Renderer is open source under the MIT License, is for Fabric and Forge only, and works on either side, and neither side needs it, covering 1.19 – 1.19.3.
