MCEF (Minecraft Chromium Embedded Framework)
by ds58
With MCEF, players can load the Chromium web browser inside Minecraft, as the mod is a library that other mods use to display web pages in the game.
What it does
MCEF adds the Chromium web browser to Minecraft. It is a library that other mods call to render web content, and 15 catalog mods require it, among them WebDisplays, WebDisplays [2.0] REMASTER, MineChromatic Addon, Cubium and Bluemap Viewer. The mod is built on java-cef, which in turn wraps CEF and the Chromium project; it was first written by montoyo and is now rewritten and maintained by the CinemaMod Group.
The browser engine is fetched by a built-in tool inside the mod, which needs an internet connection the first time it runs. Current Chromium version is 116.0.5845.190. Some antivirus software can block MCEF from starting, so the mod files may need to be allowed. The mod does not work on Android. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and the environment is client-side only, so servers do not need it. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only.

Use cases
Web content in the world
Mods that place screens in the world can show live web pages on them through MCEF.
Map viewers
A map add-on can display an interactive web map inside the client, using the embedded browser.
Who it’s for: Mod developers building browser-based screens, and players who install an add-on that needs an embedded browser. The library is only used on the client.
How it compares
