Insane's Experience Tweaks

by Insane96

Insane's Experience Tweaks changes how experience points are gained, dropped and spent, and it reshapes the experience anvil with many customizations.

What it does

Players who die keep less of their experience: the mod sets the drop on death to 80 percent, and a longer list of options controls how much experience mobs, blocks and other sources drop. Levelling up uses a fixed amount of experience per level instead of the usual exponential curve, and players pick up orbs faster. Bottles o' enchanting always give a full level of experience, and shearing sheep, gathering honeycomb from bee hives or brushing suspicious blocks can also yield experience.

Mobs drop more experience for each piece of equipment they carry, and more still when it is enchanted. Repairing items on an anvil costs less material, and crafting an item costs a little experience without the increasing cost of the vanilla anvil. A multiplier can be applied to how much experience mobs and blocks give, and the default settings leave it disabled.

Insane's Experience Tweaks requires InsaneLib. It runs on the server alone, so players join without installing anything. Files are published for NeoForge 1.21.1 only, with 1.1.4.0 as the latest file, and the code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved. The mod is part of Insane's Survival Overhaul, and source code and an issue tracker are linked from its page.

Key features

  1. Death experience penalty

On death, a player keeps only part of their experience, with the drop set to 80 percent and a limit of seven levels.

  2. Fixed level cost

Each level needs the same amount of experience, replacing the exponential growth of vanilla levelling.

  3. Enhanced anvils

Experience anvils gain many options for repair cost, material use and the increasing cost of repeated work.

  4. Experience sources

Sheep shearing, honeycomb harvesting, brushing suspicious blocks and bottles o' enchanting can grant experience, and multipliers adjust each source.

Fixed Anvils is a Fabric server-side mod for 1.21.11 that is not open source and targets the anvil alone.
