Greed

by Natsu91

Greed rebalances enchanting, brewing, cauldrons and villager trades in Minecraft Java Edition, adding curses and enchantments on Forge and NeoForge.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.18.2 – 26.1.2

What it does

Greed changes how the enchanting table works by giving it tiers that depend on the block below it, and bookshelves always count toward the table's tier. The card adds seven curses and four enchantments, and the enchanting table now draws on a larger pool of choices. An option uncaps the table's maximum level so items can be enchanted up to 64 levels at once, while maxed enchantments cost up to 30 levels. Config options can make enchanting consume an amount of experience shown on the table, and the cost of each enchantment can be set through the config file.

Brewing and cauldrons get their own changes. Cauldrons can hold potions instead of water, and players cannot fill a water bottle from a water source, so a cauldron is required. A cauldron filled with potions applies its effects to a single bottle and combines them into one. Greed integrates with Farmer's Delight, where its rebalance makes that mod's foods a more viable choice.

Key features

  1. Enchanting table tiers

The enchanting table gains tiers based on the block below it, and bookshelves affect enchantment levels depending on that tier.

  2. Curses and enchantments

Seven new curses and four new enchantments join the vanilla set, and the enchantments available can be restricted by tier and curse list.

  3. Potion cauldrons

Cauldrons hold potions instead of water, and a filled cauldron combines its potions into a single bottle's effects.

  4. Configurable vanilla enchantments

Maximum levels and rarities of vanilla enchantments can be changed through the config file.
