Pride
by Natsu91
Pride brings back older-style PvP combat for Forge and NeoForge, restoring the knockback, damage and fishing rod behavior of earlier Minecraft versions in newer game versions.
What it does
Pride ports the combat systems of older sources into later versions. Knockback, damage calculation, fishing rod physics and body and head rotation follow an older set of mappings, and attack timers and hit animations are reworked to match. Sword animations are changed as well, and the mod is built around MCP mappings. Attack cooldown is disabled for items such as axes, maces and spears, while axe damage is reduced and the critical, weak and strong hit sounds are turned off.
Shields gain a working hit block system with a configurable damage reduction. Each of these behaviors can be switched on or off through the Pride config file, so a server can keep only the parts it wants. The mod is aimed at players who want pre-Combat Update PvP physics while keeping the content of the Combat Update.
Pride runs on Forge and NeoForge and is published for six release versions covering 1.18.2 – 26.1.2, with the latest Forge file for 1.20.1 and the latest NeoForge file for 26.1.2, both dated 2026-07-30. Client and server are both needed, so the server and every player must run it. Its code is not open source, and it is released under All rights reserved, though public links exist for the source code and issue tracker.
