FormidableFarmland

by 2Retr0

Under FormidableFarmland, a jump onto a farmland block no longer crumbles it, and its flattening depends on the height of the fall.

FabricQuiltClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.19.2 – 1.20.1

What it does

Vanilla farmland turns back to dirt when a player or mob lands on it, even after a short hop. FormidableFarmland keeps the block intact for small jumps and makes the outcome of a fall depend on how far it drops. A landing from a short height never flattens the farmland, a drop of 2.0 blocks flattens it with a 50% chance, and a drop of 3.5 blocks or more flattens it every time, so falling from a fence post or off a house still ruins the crops below.

The mod also changes how a shovel works on farmland. In vanilla, right-clicking farmland with a shovel can flatten it into a path, which interferes with path-making. Under this mod that interaction is turned off, so farmland stays farmland when a player uses a shovel on it. It runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it, and it is released under the MIT License as open source for 1.19.2 – 1.20.1.

Key features

  1. Protected small jumps

Short hops leave farmland intact, so small jumps no longer undo a planted field.

  2. Shovel interaction disabled

Right-clicking farmland with a shovel no longer converts it into a path block.

  3. Configurable outcomes

The thresholds and chances behind the flattening rules are set by the mod's configuration, so server owners can tune them.

Use cases

Crop fields with players on them

Players who walk through their fields and jump over fences keep the planted crops from being lost to small hops.

Multiplayer farms

Server owners who run shared farms can stop accidental trampling from one player's movements on another player's plots.

Who it’s for: Survival players and server owners who want farmland to hold up to ordinary movement, while keeping the fall rules that make high drops still damage crops.
