Finite Water

by LobsterJonn

Finite Water changes how water sources form, so players can no longer create infinite water by placing new source blocks.

What it does

Under this mod, water that flows out of a source no longer turns a gap into a new source block, so an ocean or a dug hole stops being an endless supply. Water can still be picked up and placed, but the source count in a world stays fixed. The mod runs on client and server, so both sides need it, and it is published for Forge and NeoForge across 7 release versions, 1.18.2 – 1.21.1, under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Finite water sources

Water no longer creates new source blocks where it flows, which turns water into a limited resource.

  2. Pickup changes

Scooping up a source block in an ocean or a hole leaves it gone, so the same spot cannot be refilled indefinitely.

  3. Player-made sources

Infinite water sources built by players stop working while the mod is installed.

What the author says

This mod makes it so water can no longer create new source blocks effectively making water a finite resource. This change affects all water so if you pick up a water source block from an ocean, there will be a hole in the ocean.
