With Item Rename, players can change the display name, lore, enchantment glow and colors of items through commands on a server.

What it does

The mod lets players edit several properties of an item, including its name, lore, enchantment glow and color formatting. Players with permission level 1 can use the basic command, while players at permission level 3 and above can also bypass the lock check that normally stops item editing. Permission checks can be handled by LuckPerms or another permission manager mod.

Item Rename runs on the server only, so players join without installing it. Color formatting follows the EssentialsX scheme with a prefix, and hex color codes are supported with the same prefix. The mod requires Fabric API and is released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license, so the code is not open source. Files exist for Fabric and Quilt, with builds covering 1.19.1 – 26.2 and the latest file, 1.3.2+26.2, dated 2026-08-21.
