Item Name Changer

by MinexInd

Item Name Changer lets a player rename items, edit their lore lines and set colors from a GUI or from commands, without spending experience at an anvil.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21 – 26.3

What it does

Renaming, lore editing and color changes are handled in a GUI opened with a bindable key from the Controls menu, and also through a rename command. Multiple lore lines can be added, edited or removed, and custom names and lore are saved and restored the same way vanilla custom item names are. Formatting codes can be applied through separate color pickers for the item name and for the lore, so players do not have to type color codes by hand. The default key is G.

The mod runs entirely on the client, so it works on servers that do not have it installed. Only the player who installs it sees and uses the changes. Item Name Changer is open source under the MIT License, with its source code public, and files target 1.21 – 26.3 for Fabric only, with 1.3 for 26.3 as the latest file. Packs that use custom item models based on CIT can name items with that setup as well.

Key features

  1. Renaming through a GUI

A bindable key opens a screen where item names, lore and colors are changed without commands or anvils.

  2. Lore line editing

Lore lines can be added, edited or removed one by one, and saved the same way custom names are.

  3. Color pickers

Separate color pickers apply formatting to the item name and the lore, so color codes need not be memorized.

  4. Rename command

A command renames items directly, for players who prefer typing to using the screen.

Who it’s for: Players who want to rename or relabel items on any server, and resource pack authors who pair custom models with item names.
