eZWeight
by armilp
eZWeight adds a customizable item weight system to Forge and NeoForge, with penalties for players who carry too much.
What it does
Each item carries a weight that the player's total load adds up. The weights come from JSON files, and the mod has four core files for configuring them, so server owners can tune the system to their world. Weights can also be set in-game through the eZWeight GUI, and admins and players have a set of commands for checking and managing them.
Going over the limit brings penalties, such as forced sneaking, reduced jumping and damage over time, which pushes players to manage their inventory carefully. The player's own weight is recalculated from a base value, food and strength. Curios is handled automatically, so extended inventories adjust the total weight, and backpacks weigh 20% less by default. Each backpack can also be given its own percentage and maximum weight, for example 15% and 250 kg.
The mod is built for survival roleplay servers and realism-focused play. Client and server both need it: players install it on the client, and the server must run it too. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge, with builds for 1.18.2 – 1.21.1 across four release versions. It is not open source and is released under All rights reserved.
Key features
Item-based weights
Every item can be given its own weight, so heavy tools and light materials are tracked separately.
Dynamic overweight penalties
Players who exceed their limit suffer jumping restrictions, forced sneaking or damage until the load is reduced.
Integrated HUD
On-screen indicators and an inventory display show the current weight and how close the player is to the limit.
TaCZ guns support
Guns, ammunition and attachments from the TaCZ mod are weighed with full compatibility.
