Embeddium

by FiniteReality

Embeddium is an open-source client performance mod based on the last openly licensed Sodium code, aimed at mod compatibility.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.16.5 – 1.21.4

What it does

The project started from the final FOSS-licensed version of Sodium and adds bug fixes and features for modded play. Indium is not needed for the Fabric Rendering API, and an optional translucency sorting mode sits in the video options. Patches for mod compatibility issues follow soon after problems are reproduced, and extra APIs help other mods integrate.

Embeddium is not supported by CaffeineMC, and issues go to its own tracker. Indium, Reese's Sodium Options, Rubidium, Sodium and TexTrue's Embeddium Options are listed as incompatible. It runs on the client only, under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only. Forge builds end at 1.20.1, Fabric at 1.20.6 and NeoForge at 1.21.1.

Key features

  1. Faster rendering

Client rendering runs through Embeddium's optimized engine.

  2. Translucency sorting

Optional correct sorting of translucent blocks, enabled in video settings.

  3. Integration APIs

Extra APIs let other mods hook into the renderer.

  4. Fixes for other mods

Bugs that appear alongside other mods are fixed in quick patch releases.
