(Sodium) Chloride
by SrRapero720
Sodium (Chloride) adds entity distance culling and leaf culling to the Sodium renderer, so distant entities and dense leaves cost less to draw.
What it does
Entity distance culling skips rendering and ticking of entities and block entities that sit far from the player. A whitelist keeps important ones active, such as the Ender Dragon or Ghast, and entries can target a single entity type like minecraft:bat or every entity from a mod namespace such as alexsmobs:all.
Leaves culling removes faces from rendering inside groups of the same leaf type, and a slider sets how many leaves are culled. Fast models are also named among its performance features. It requires Sodium, Embeddium and Fabric API on Fabric, and runs client-side only.
Published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 9 release versions, 1.18.2 – 26.2, the project is not open source; it is distributed under All rights reserved. Smooth Skies is listed as incompatible.
Key features
Entity distance culling
Entities and block entities far from the player are not rendered or ticked, which reduces their per-frame cost.
Entity whitelist
Chosen entities stay active even at a distance, so bosses and other key mobs keep behaving normally.
Namespace rules
A single rule can cull every entity from one mod namespace, such as all entities from a given addon.
Leaves culling
Faces inside groups of the same leaf type are removed from rendering, and a slider controls the amount.
Fast models
The feature list also names fast model rendering as part of the performance set.
